FAQS

EP-E300 Primer

Can I mix smaller batches?

Yes. As long as you maintain the proper mix ratio (4:1) you can mix smaller batches.

Do I need to use primer?

Yes. Our primer promotes better adhesion, helps to prevent pin holes and bubbles in the metallic coat, and allows the metallic coat to spread easier and better.

Can I mix the primer with a stir stick?

No. The primer must be mechanically mixed with a drill and mixing paddle to ensure proper mixing of the components.

How do I apply EP-E300?

Application should be made with a non shed 3/8 nap roller. We recommend an 18" roller for faster and more even coverage. The mixed material can be applied using a paint tray, can be squeegeed and backrolled, or can be poured in small amounts to the concrete surface and rolled into place. Surface Preparation

What can I use to prep my concrete?

We recommend mechanical preparation of the concrete surface. Diamond grinding works best. You can purchase our diamond grinding system in the Tools section of our website or you can rent a tool like a Diamabrush at your local home improvement store. For an example please see the following link: http://www6.homedepot.com/tool-truck-rental/Concrete_Prep_Tool/12570/

Should I clean my floor after grinding?

Yes. Remove all dust and debris by vacuuming. Mop the floor with a microfiber mop and denatured alcohol.

Yes. However, you must allow sufficient time for the concrete to completely dry. In most cases this will take 3-5 days. All moiusture must be out of the concrete before proceeding to the application of the primer.

Will the Designer Metallic Epoxy fill holes and spalls in the concrete?

The epoxy will flow into holes and spalled areas of the concrete. However, because these areas will be thicker the metallic pigments will settle and be darker in those areas. We recommend using Quick Patch to fill holes, cracks and spalled areas of the concrete.
